Saterday

Hello all,it's very quiet here today and not very busy, very unusual but soo nice.I'm looking forward to this weekend as there isn't much going on.The dinner we catered to on thursday evening went well, but i'm getting very tired of turkey dinners.Of course i'm getting tired of them but this is a new group of people every time ,so just two more dinners and then i'm done for the year.I have to do one on thursday for lunch to about 35to 40 people and that one i'm doing by myself,so it will be quiet in the kitchen. This past thurs. there were a lot of people helping in the kithchen and that really makes for a lot of laughter and joking.I just love that part of it!It was nine thirty when we were done.
We are having our children and grandchildren come over on the 29th and that's when we will celebrate Christmas,as all of them will be at the inlaws for Christmas this year. That gives me some time to get the food ready. There are just 20 so thats's not that many. The girls are going to do the baking for me this year as i have not as much time as it takes to make goodies. Then of course today i'm just doing nothing and i feel a bit guilty about asking them to do the work for me.Ohhh well i'll get over my guilt i'm sure.
The weather has been very nice here since wed. and the snow is all cleared from the highways and people are able to travel again without problems getting around. It sure didn't look good last weekend!I'm sure the school kids enjoyed it as they missed three days of school this week and went two days and now have their Christmas holidays,so good for them!
Well that's about all i have to write about this time. Have a safe weekend and God Bless.

Stormy day

Hello every one. It's a very stormy day today,we must have at least 4 to 5 feet of snow since Sunday. The wind is just playing with the fresh snow and just blowing it all over into big banks. We are unable to find our truck, not that we are planning to go anywhere,as the roads are all closed. They were using hellecopters to get about 300 people of the free way as they were stuck there some for as long as 25 hours. They would all go into one car until the gas ran out and then go to the other's car and so on as to concerve the gas to keep warm.
we are doing fine as we still have electricity as so many others have not because of the storm. We have enough food and water so that is a blessing.Plus i have time to post finally and get up date of all of you.
So far my dinners have gone well and I have three more to go,the end is in sight. Hope you all keep well and stay safe.

Dinners

Hello all
It's a rainy day here today and very warm, very unusual and i imagine not very healthy. They are talking about it getting cold for tomorrow and maybe it will get down to some seasonal temps. It isn't that i haven't enjoyed the nice weather we have been having but there are a lot of people sick all at once.We should freeze some of these bugs out i think. Also i have to get in the Christmas mood,as i'm going to have a lot of dinners to cater to.Our church usually give the seniors 70 and over gift baskets, and my huby is a deacon so that means the wives help get them ready, but this year they decided to have a Christmas dinner for them.So Sat. evening we are feeding 57seniors so that means i'm cooking one turkey and making the mashed potatoes. On Sund. i'm having all the girls over after church as we are singing in the nursing home after lunch.
So sat. the feable and on sunday the 8 to 14 year old,i just hope i'm going to handle it all.The 9th i'm having my hubbies family over that is 18 people, onthe 9th and 16th our church this years turn for having Christmas dinner at the senior home, and that is a huge undertaking. It's a very large home.I told the ladies i'm not available on the 9th so i'm on for the 16th. We have postponed our imediate family such as our children and grand children to the 29th of Dec.So that will give me a bit of a breather.By that time i'll be sick of turkey i'm sure.
I will take it a day at the time,oh ya i have to decorate our home yet and that is going to take a few days to get that done.Next year i'm going to try for a simpler holiday season ha ha.,My hubby says it keeps me out of trouble.Oh ya i forgot this Wed. evening we are having a father daughter evening for the girls,so another event i almost forgot.
It's kind of cute, yesterday at church one of the girls asked my hubby to be her stand in father as she also has a sister in the club.I thought that was just so nice of her.I think that is the reason that i love to teach these girls, they are such wonderful girls. She could have asked any other man to take that place but she asked an almost 75 year old man.Yes he is celebrating a very big birthday in the new year. That is the reason for having Christmas that late so we can do two things in one day. It's not always easy to drive a long distance for all the children,so this way it's only one trip.
Well i've been going on and on.Hope you all are doing well and hope you all have a good week.

All ABOUT NOTHING

Today is another one of these days that make me wonder and suprised that our countries are not more in debt then what they are! As i have explained in my last post we went to buy a new truck. Now we were taught to buy only what you could afford, and we still try to do this. Now Ford had a thingie that if you had a Costco membership you also got a 2500 reduction on your vehicle. We said nice right every bit makes a difference. Buttt... we would have to finance the truck for at least 3 months, that will still come to a cheeper price then not taking it.We asked if there would be a fee for closing this financing before the 60 months, they said no.Now tell me folks does that not make you think why finance it for 3 months and do all the paper work and we still come out with money ahead. It just boggels my mind and it just doesn't seem to make sence. We will see how hard it is to get out of that finance com. ,so you might hear a rant or two in three months time. Also we didn't get the truck that we thought we had bought, because it was sold. They thought they could just get one like it and that failed miserably, so they letting us drive a cheep replica of what the original one. Finally we said that we didn't like how they were treating the situation and the sales person went to his manager and said he wasn't going to do bussines like that and they came up with one that is somewhat like the first one.
Hope you all are keeping well and thanks for listening to my rant,i feel much better now.
Take care and God Bless

CHANGES

Hello All,Again it's been awhile and again i seem to run out of time, what an excuse but you know what they say ,an excuse is better then none. The weather is very nice here and almost a bit to warm for the time of year, but i'm not complaining.
We went and did something big yesterday. the last time we were going camping we thought to get an early start and got in the truck at 7:45 a.m and turned the key and it just went click, click and so called caa or aaa what ever country you are in and they came about an hour later and towed it to the shop. This was the second time this happened so we had to put in a new start moter. The truck is 8 years old but very low milage. We are not impressed, however my hubby and i have talked which is good in any situation ha ha.We said maybe get a new truck? and trade in the car and the truck? well you know how that goes! Now last week we were so busy and just talked over the pros and cons..You see we have all winter before something really should be done. But yesterday we went out to see how much this would set us back, and ohhh that is a lot of money. We were in the city and thought to get a feel for how much we might get for a trade in and were very disapointed,However they showed us a pretty fine truck, with all the gagets. It even has a camara to back up to the trailer, and it drove so nice.then we asked them to make us a deal and see if we could come to some agreement. They made a very compelling deal and we went out for lunch at two and talked. My hubby was impressed and said i think we should go for it! I am usually the one that says lets wait awhile ,but this time i was right there with him. So the story goes we went and did it.Hopefully this works out for us. We traded in the car and now we are going to sell our truck privately. We spent some money on it last year by putting on new struts and brakes and brake linings and last month a new start moter so it drives just fine, but they were not going to give us enough for it,and we wanted a bit heavier truck to pull the trailer. Our old truck has all the gagets also but is a bit lighter and does not have the quad cab but one and a half cab and this presents a problem,as our grandchildren are getting to tall to sit in the back.So this will solve two problems. Today is the after shock, and we are going to have to get used to it a bit yet hoping we did the right thing.
Well so much for my news! I just red some of your posts and i hear you are all doing pretty good.Toodie you are making my brain work, i seem to be unable to respond to your posts, maybe you could guide me a bit.Remember my blog name? Thats me LoL.
Have a great week you all and God bless!

Encouragement

Hello All
I had the nicest supprise today as i opened my blog. There was a complete stranger comenting to my post as i wasn't sure about windows live. Now she didn't have to pespond or care but she did,and that shows me it's a person with something more then just a regular joe.So i clicked on her blog and there i found someone that walkes in true faith with her Lord.I read her entire post and just couldn't get enough of it.I was encouraged for the day and thought to write a few words about my friends on bloggers. You all are such good friends and sometimes it seems as if i know who and what you are all about.I am encouraged by you, i feel your hurts and pray for you,i feel you joys and thank God He brought joys to you and to me! Sometimes people have a lot of pain and i can identify with you,i guess that is called Friendship! We all have our struggels in this life but we also know that we may bring them before Gods throne and He will supply all our needs, maybe not as we want them but as He knows what is best for us,maybe not at the time we think we need it but never to late, and all in His time As i write this post i realize how blessed i am.My Mother had a plaque that read true friends are like diamonds presious and rare. How true that statement is as i look foreward to getting to know more fellow travelers.
I hope you all have a blessed Sunday as again we have the privilege to hear God's word spoken to us so that we may share with others the good news of salvation.
God Bless Margaret

Just a matter of time

Hello everyone
I have been getting a lot of requests to become my friend. When i go to your profile all i see is naked bodies. You girls have nothing to say just pictures and they will only last a few more years. Your body won't look like that for ever and then what will you do?If you have nothing to say i feel bad for you.A friend is someone you get to know by what they say! When you don't practice to be a friend when your young you won't know how to do it when your old.In life you need friends, friends that are there when life gets tough or when you lose a loved one.If you haven't created that friendship by spending time to relate they won't remember your body when your old!You end up being very lonely. So girls start respecting yourself so that i can also respect you for what and who you are.tell me about your life and what benefit you are to society.

This is my Wed. rant. for the rest my day is good hope you all have a great one.

AND ANOTHER TRY

Well again i am trying to do a few things that i think could be tweeked, however i don't think i'm getting to far.But i'll keep on trying.I was always taught to never give up until i was satesfied with the reults. It's raining outside so i spend more time on this computer.Sometimes it gets very frustrating and i just want to quit, but i'll not learn anything that way will i?
Hope you all are having a great day? I finally done my windows on wed. and today i did some indoor windows. Then i cleaned the kitchen and the dining room and living room. That is a lot of cleaning as i just took no time at all this summer to clean anything and it was starting to show.Ha Ha I will slowly get it all done and then i can start all over again. This house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms a huge family room and living dining and kithchen. More than what we use but is handy when the kids come home! But it needs to be kept up and that is becoming a chore and a half.I'm not trying to listen to Beth to much when she says that a hundred years from now no one will care whether it was cleaned or not ,i'm still living in the here and now!
Well you all have yourself a great weekend!

A GOOD DAY

Well today was a rainy day and it almost seemed strange. We haven't had a rainy day for such a long time that it felt strange! We had thunder early this morning, and it rained most of the day.It was a bit cooler so i baked banana bread 5 of them so i have some thing in the freezer when unexpected company comes. I'm sure it won't be in the freezer long.It makes the house smell sooooo good and fall can't be to far of when i start baking.

Hope you all are having a great week, mine is going well so far!I think i'm getting the hang of this blogspot and you can find me at soetekoek@blogspot .com.

Stay safe and

Hello all.
I just hope this is going to work! I would like to tell you all that this weekend is going to be a busy weekend. We are celebrating 4 birthdays, a grandson who turned 12 on the 7th,my yougest daughter turned the big 40 on the 8th,a sonin law is turning 45 on the13th, and a grandson is turning 3 on the 14th.The 12 and 45 year old are from one family and the 3and40 year old are from another family so we are getting the whole family together on Sun.There are so many birthdays that we are having little clumps of birthday celebrations. And it works well!
The reason i started to say i hope this works is i wrote this blog once before and some how it dissapeared on me so where ever it is ??? Then i got frustrated and went and packed the trailer for tomorrow as we want to leave early and plan to camp not to far away from our daughters place that way we don't have to drive that far on Sun.The packing was a good idea buttt then the road crews came out and they are preparing to pave our street so we had to move the trailer. We will try tonight late and hopefully they will be gone then.
I'm trying to get the hang of this bloger place but am having a lot of trouble with it.I'm sure i'll get the hang of it as i practice and take more time with it.
The weather is changing so rapidly that the one day its 90 and then in the 50s.and i'm not sure what kind of clothes to pack in the trailer.
Well i hope you all have a great weekend and please stay safe.
